Police say scam artists working in Letcher Co.

Kentucky State Police are looking for three men who recently conned an elderly Letcher County couple out of $900.

Police say the three men offered to lightning proof the Blackey home of Carolyn Walters on November 17 for a charge of $14, to which Walters and her husband agreed. Police say that when the men told the couple the work was finished, the men raised the price to $900. Police say the victims were dissatisfied but paid at the insistence of the alleged scam artists.

The three men arrived at the home in a red Chevrolet truck manufactured in the 1980's. Two of the suspects are described as two white males in their twenties or thirties. Both have short, black hair and are about five-feet three-inches tall. One weighs about 120 pounds and the other weighs about 170 pounds. The third subject is a white male who weighs about 200 pounds and is six feet tall. He has gray hair and a goatee.

KSP Trooper David Combs has charge of the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call KSP at 1- 800-222-5555.
