A bridge collapse at Perkins Branch near Letcher Elementary an Middle Schools has left residents with no way in and out of their hollow.
The Letcher County Road Department is building a temporary low-water bridge across Rockhouse Creek and and a new access road until the bridge can be rebuilt.
Deputy Judge/Executive Eddie Meade said recent flooding apparently washed the dirt out from under one end of the bridge. No one was on the bridge when it collapsed Wednesday afternoon.
